Maxine Loves | My Top Ten Oxfordshire Wedding Photographers

I’ve called this blog the Top Ten Oxfordshire Wedding Photographers… but it should really be the Top Ten Wedding Photographers who cover weddings in and around Oxfordshire. Which is WAY less snappy!

Anyway, this is my entirely subjective list of my top ten Oxfordshire wedding photographers. It’s my favourites who I have worked with and/or gotten to know over the past few years and who routinely produce truly fabulous wedding photography for our mutual clients. I’ve only included photographers who I would happily invite to photograph my own wedding, was I to get married again (I’m working on Mr W for a vow renewal in a few years!) They are photographers who I recommend over and again for all sorts of reasons… read on to find out who they are! Please also note that I could have made this list twice as long… we really are spoilt for choice around these parts!

So in alphabetical order (they are a competitive bunch these photographers…)

Alice Morgan

Alice is possibly one of the most delightful wedding photographers you could have at your big day. She is just so lovely (and I have spent more than one very quiet wedding fair chatting to her at length!) and slips around a wedding venue entirely unnoticed, snapping the very best shots for you. Her photographs are always very well balanced in terms of light and composition and always very natural and relaxed – like her. She’s an artist by training and really does photograph with an artist’s eye.

Amanda Karen

I love this woman! Amanda is one of my absolute favourite ‘light and bright’ photographers (and she takes all my branding images that you can see on my website and social media). She works alongside her husband, Hutch, and they are a brilliant team, capturing photographs filled with natural light. They can create a wonderful sense of space in their images, whilst also making sure no tiny detail is missed. In this respect, they have a real fine art photography sense to their work. They also have a really naughty and fun sense of humour and are lots of fun to have around.

David Bostock

Full disclosure, David actually photographed my own wedding back in 2015. He was a complete superstar stepping in at relatively short notice. Since then we have developed a fantastic working relationship. We’ve worked on a lot of weddings together and I also provide hair and makeup for Ellie Sanderson Boudoir, for which he is the photographer.

I always learn so much about lighting an image from David. He is a real master of the technical side of photography – both in terms of the camera itself and what he is capturing. He’s an Associate of the Master Photographer Association – which is a really big thing and requires huge dedication to his craft. He is able to capture the emotion of the day and produces truly timeless, detailed photographs as your day unfolds. I am very grateful that I was able to have him photograph my wedding.

Dominique Bader

Dominique and I met at a really, REALLY, wet December wedding. I gave her a lift to the church so she, and her kit, could stay relatively dry. Unfortunately for Dominique, when she jumped into my car, my audiobook restarted and the characters resumed their distinctly amorous activities! I was so embarrassed! Anyway! Back to the photography…

Dominique has the most wonderful family and really sees the emotions at play on a wedding day because she recognises them from her own story. Not only that but she captures them on camera. Theres a reason that her wedding clients go back to her time and again to document the next stages of their lives.

Julie Michaelson

Julie is one of the rare few photographers that work on film (as well as digital). She imbues her work with such softness and light that it becomes entirely timeless. Like me, she also left behind a high flying corporate role to pursue an altogether more artistic and fulfilling career. Her work could not be more beautiful. She is also very good at bringing the best out of her couples so that they look amazing in their photos.

Frankee Victoria

I love this girl! Such a fun person to have around during wedding prep. I adore her signature, dark and moody look, which is not so dark and moody that you can’t actually see what you’re looking at! She uses light in such an interesting way and captures textures so incredibly beautifully. The joy that is prevails through her images is really lovely to see.

Lucy Davenport

Lucy is a really elegant photographer (and a really elegant lady too!). She captures light so beautifully and her photographs are incredibly luminous, possibly as a result of her learning her trade on film as well as digital. Insider knowledge; she used to assist Mario Testino before starting her own business.

Ross Holkham

Ross actually shot the first wedding I ever did back in 2016! We’ve worked together on a couple of occasions since then. I never fail to be blown away by his story telling and diverse ways in which he tells the story of your day.

Two-D Photography

Husband and wife team Dan and Sarah are both flipping hilarious and the BEST fun on your big day. This sense of fun comes across in the images they capture – they can’t resist the joy! Dan also has a drone license so they can capture aerial footage if you’d like them to as well as also providing videography services. Sarah is a pro at keeping brides calm as well as being such fun to have around on the morning of the wedding.

Weddings by Nicola and Glen

Nicola and Glen are such a lovely couple and bring this joy to their photography. They specialise in destination weddings in the cotswolds and love to capture their couples looking natural and relaxed. Both are such a pleasure to have with you on your special day. I love the texture and attention to detail they capture in their images.
