I’m obsessed with my family; my amazing husband Alex, my incredible children Flossie and Sebby and my wonderful fur baby, Amber-dog the cocker spaniel.
I EAT FAR TOO MUCH CHOCOLATE (ONLY GALAXY!)
and drink too much Diet Coke. I hate weak squash, water, tea and coffee and get twitchy if the loo roll is hung the wrong way. I’m told I’m a picky eater but I don’t think that can be true! I’m a bit of a stickler for spelling and grammar too. I also like to shout at the news on the TV like a grumpy old lady…
I came to the hair and makeup industry comparatively late, after a career as a – wait for it – divorce solicitor!
Oh the irony… But I always felt like a square peg in a round hole; I found the work unfulfilling and repetitive and always dealing with clients at their lowest ebb really began to take its toll. I knew it wasn’t something that I wanted to do forever, and especially not when I had a young family at home.
I’ve always loved to be creative; I nearly studied fine art at university, but got side tracked into a Geography degree and then a law conversion. I love to paint but am more into projects; Knitting, crochet, sewing. I always loved to play with hair and makeup. Whilst on honeymoon, sitting on an amazing beach in NZ, I had a lightning bolt moment. And got booked straight onto a one to one makeup course to start my professional training. My business took off and I quickly trained in hair too so that I could offer brides a complete package in house.
I’VE ALWAYS LOVED THE TRANSFORMATIVE EFFECT OF HAIR AND MAKEUP, BOTH IN PHYSICAL APPEARANCE AND ESPECIALLY IN HOW IT MAKES A WOMAN FEEL.
A bright red lip can make you feel liberated and sexy, a sultry smoky eye turns a nice girl into a rebel rock chick, while a classic nude contoured eye can make you feel polished and glamorous. It’s a real privilege to help women become the bride that they have always dreamt of being.
Day to day, I am a stay at home mummy, hair pulled back into a mum bun and without a scrap of makeup on! So many clients have told me that they love that I am not another immaculate and intimidating makeup artist.
I’m covered in mud and glowing and happy after a long walk in the fresh countryside air with my Amber-dog. I barely ever wear makeup or do my own hair…
For my wedding day I wanted to feel like the film star Maxine, like the Maxine I am in my head except that I eat too much chocolate and would rather snuggle in bed and take the dog for a walk in the fresh air than spend hours getting ready in the morning!
I WANT MY BRIDES TO FEEL LIKE THEY ARE THE WOW VERSION OF THEMSELVES ON THEIR WEDDING DAY.
Elegant, timeless, refined. The bride they have always dreamed of being (but whilst remaining the woman their fiancé knows and loves – we want you to be recognised once you get to the end of the aisle!)
I can perfect troublesome skin. I can slim noses. I can hide double chins and create cheekbones. I can make eyes look the bluest/greenest/most golden they’ve ever been and lips the fullest.
